Einstein-the true sign of intelligence is not knowledge but imaginationWe all know Albert Einstein as one of this century’s greatest physicist who discovered the theory of relativity. But you might not realise he was great exponent of creative thinking.  His insight didn’t just come from logic or mathematics, rather from intuition and inspiration.

Hence why I have always found him an inspiration for my own artistic and creative pursuits. It helps to understand a little about his personal life – and it wasn’t filled with science and maths as you might think. For instance he was an accomplished pianist and violinist. Music was an important part of his life and he would use it to problem solve when he was stuck with a particular mathematical problem.

He was a big believer in using intuition in his work. A quote from Einstein highlights this:

All great achievements of science must start from intuitive knowledge. I believe in intuition and inspiration…. At times I feel certain I am right while not knowing the reason.

Intuition and inspiration are the key to all our creative thinking. Remember to let your thoughts free to go wherever they need and find inspiration in music to help the process along. You’ll be surprised what you might come up with.
